The Empress's New Tea

Yesterday was a long day so this morning I wanted something stout but soothing so I brewed a tea of my own creation: Lavender Empress. I don't like bergamot (I think I have a mild allergic reaction to it) but I like Earl Grey's smokey, autumnal qualities so I created my own "smokey" blend a month or two ago. In my 16-ounce teapot I put two level teaspoons of Formosa Oolong and a half teaspoon of Organic Lavender, both of which I got at Souvia, but are available elsewhere, too.

Formosa Oolong is "Medium bodied, with a golden-brown colored liquor and a light floral, nutty taste" which makes it a good tea for the base of blends. Lavender is relaxing, but strong, so I use it sparingly. The name, Lavender Empress, is a salute to both Earl Grey and its Eastern and European roots.
