Boy, did I learn a painful lesson this weekend. I re-injured a foot I damaged 27 years ago so was trying to keep it up most of the weekend. Saturday morning I made a pot of Chakra 4 Herb & Tea House's organic Almond Blossom Oolong Tea (they get it from Frontier) with the last of our filtered water. Not wanting to stress my foot and ankle I didn't go out for more. We know tea tastes better with filtered water so we did without.
By Sunday morning Mom and I were having oolong withdrawal so she suggested I use some of her Smartwater. All I can say is that was not a smart idea. While Smartwater is wonderful either cold or at room temperature, it reacts badly to the tea when hot. I took a huge gulp of Yellow Plum Oolong (from The Urban Tea Loft) when it had cooled a bit and nearly spit it out. All I could taste was hot electrolytes (calcium chloride, magnesium chloride and potassium bicarbonite).
After church, I limped into the water store when I got more filtered water. I rushed home with it to prepare a pot (after rinsing everything carefully) of Teavana's Jasmine Oolong. Ahh, bliss.
We followed that this morning with Teavana's Tung Ting Jade Oolong while vowing to never run out of filtered water again. And if we do, we'll make do with the tap water.
